SOURCES — microbiome-causality (Track 2, academic)
All raster imagery is openly licensed: CC0 or CC-BY only. No CC BY-SA, no non-open figures.
PDB atomic coordinates are public domain (RCSB Protein Data Bank) and were rendered
for these graphics with a self-written matplotlib C-alpha trace renderer
(infographics-build/render_pdb.py). No micrograph was fabricated.

Rejected
- Wikimedia Commons short-chain fatty acid structure images (e.g. 4-phenylbutyric acid, CC0) — rejected: available files were substituted derivatives or had unclear identity; omitted rather than mislabeled.
- PLOS Biology 10.1371/journal.pbio.3003775, Fig. 1 (bacterial polyphosphate condensates; CC BY 4.0) — rejected: wrong biological context for gut microbiome causality.
Imagery gaps
- No openly licensed metabolite-level image (e.g. SCFA production in situ) was found; the molecular panels use a real bacterial protein structure and the review's "which microbial functions matter" question is carried in the panel text.
