# Adversarial review log — epitalon-telomerase (revised edition)

- **Authoring model:** Sol 6.1 (this document's own provenance records it as authored 2026-09-27 by OpenAI Codex under HSEF v5.4, then red-teamed and rewritten by Claude on 2026-09-30 — see its RED-TEAM SYNTHESIS NOTE)
- **Adversarial reviewer:** Claude Opus 5.5 (Anthropic)
- **Date:** 2026-10-14
- **Canonical file:** `consensus_consistency_audit_2026-10-09\revised\epitalon-telomerase\epitalon-telomerase.review.md`
- **Level before → after:** Γ — Mechanistically plausible, partial system support → **Γ** (unchanged)
- **Confidence before → after:** Low → Low (band re-derived under lead policy and retained; rationale rescoped off access depth, see F2)
- **Causal role / M / S / D:** epiphenomenon (step 2) · Mechanistic only · Stable · Severe overstatement (+3) — all unchanged
- **PMIDs checked:** 23/23 resolved (22 numbered references + erratum 41240216); every field matched; 0 failures, 0 retractions or expressions of concern
- **Load-bearing claims spot-checked:** 31 lettered sub-claims across 8 sources, plus the whole SHR mouse paragraph re-verified against the primary PDF
- **Validator:** **PASS — 0 fail, 0 warn, 34 pass**, both before and after the edits. This is the only case in the group that satisfies the v5.4 `lay_summary` check, because it is the only v5.4 review.

## Findings by severity

| Severity | Count |
|---|---|
| Critical | 0 |
| Major | 0 |
| Minor | 2 |
| Editorial | 0 |
| **Total corrections applied** | **2** |

No citation error, no misattribution and no scoring error was found. This is the strongest document
in the group: every number in its densest numeric passage was re-checked against the primary PDF and
every one was right, including the reversed median this edition says it corrected.

## Findings table

| ID | Severity | Location | Correction | Evidence |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| F1 | Minor | §3, SHR mice | The sentence now records that four mice per group were euthanised at twelve months for the cytogenetic study, so the paper's lifespan and tumour tables report 50 per group | Both figures are correct in the source (54 randomised per group in the abstract and Methods; "Number of mice 50 50" in Tables 5-7), but the paragraph then quoted tumour percentages over 50 with nothing to reconcile the shift. |
| F2 | Minor | §10 and score card `final_score.confidence_rationale` | Access-depth items removed from the confidence derivation and recorded as an access limitation instead; band re-derived and **retained at Low** | Lead policy: how much of a paper the reviewer could read is neither evidence density nor reproducibility. What remains is Low-band text several criteria over — small literature, eleven of twelve prior-edition sources from one connected research network, no organism-level result reproduced outside it, all three core figures of the one independent cell study replaced by erratum. |

## Verification highlights

Re-read from the primary PDF linked in reference 6 (Anisimov 2003, SHR mice), Table 6: mean life span
456 ± 29 (saline) vs 455 ± 31 (Epitalon); **median 512 vs 487**, i.e. lower in the treated group, as this
edition states and the prior edition did not; last-10% mean 709 ± 10.8 vs 803 ± 15.0, +13.3%, P < 0.01;
maximum 739 vs 830, +12.3%. Table 7: tumour-bearing mice 18 (36%) vs 16 (32%); leukaemia 6 vs 1.
Results text: bone-marrow chromosome aberrations at 12 months 8.2 ± 0.41% vs 6.8 ± 0.21, −17.1%, P < 0.05.
Table 2 shows daily food consumption significantly higher in the treated group at 5, 7, 9, 11, 13 and 16
months while Table 1 shows no body-weight difference — confirming the review's point that the abstract's
"did not influence food consumption" is contradicted by the paper's own table.

## Batch artifacts checked

- **"The earlier adversarial approval refers to its original edition" — VERIFIED TRUE, left unaltered.** `prepublication-enrichment-2026-10-05\ADVERSARIAL_REVIEW.md` records this case as "Approved as reviewed" by Claude Opus 5.5 on 2026-10-06 with 8/8 identifiers verified and the grade unchanged. That approval's object was the dated research addendum, which is what "its original edition" names. (Contrast cancer-immunoediting, where no earlier approval exists and the same clause had to be rescoped.)
- **No Consensus self-contradiction.** REVIEWER NOTES describes the PubMed sweep, ClinicalTrials.gov searches and FDA evaluation and denies no provider use. The splice already declines to credit a shared template sentence about an amyloid-specific follow-up as a case-specific run here.
- **"Best-supported rival" renderer bug — not applicable.** No such field; rank 1 is the non-nominal context-limited model and the prose names it correctly.
- **Momentum.** Already "Mechanistic only", with the framework's artifact and the explicit statement that nothing identified addresses the boundary check.

Rejected findings in full — the aggregation re-derivation, the role derivation at step 2, the three
M/S/D artifacts, the cap applications, the collective author in reference 19 and the PubMed title
brackets — are recorded in the `## ADVERSARIAL REVIEW AND APPROVAL` section of the review itself.

## Files changed in this case folder

- `epitalon-telomerase.review.md` — F1, F2, banner, `## ADVERSARIAL REVIEW AND APPROVAL`
- `epitalon-telomerase.scorecard.json` — F2 mirrored in three `confidence_rationale` fields (no level, confidence band, subclaim level, aggregation rule, role or M/S/D value changed; CRLF preserved)
- `validator.txt` — new
- `ADVERSARIAL_REVIEW.md`, `adversarial-findings.json` — new
- `sol61-original/` — pre-edit copies

## Propagation

`propagate_to` and `divergent_copies` are both empty for this slug, so nothing was copied and
nothing was left behind.

## Approval

Following adversarial review and the corrections listed above, the revised document is approved.
