Consensus checked against original sources: Hygiene Hypothesis

Cutoff9October2026. Consensus supports discovery and checks of specific source aspects; it is not a primary study, a full-paper audit or a causal probability meter.

Defined probiotic regimen and eczema

The original Finnish trial supports reduced eczema in a specified high-risk perinatal LGG regimen. This restricted positive result does not establish a universal probiotic effect, prevent every allergy, or identify protection from autoimmune disease. Original PMID11297958. Access: abstract_metadata.

Strain specificity challenges consistent efficacy

In the original randomized comparison HN001 reduced eczema while HN019 did not, and atopy comparisons were nonsignificant. Consensus's broad wording about consistently positive eczema trials must retain this strain-specific contrast. Original PMID18762327. Access: abstract_metadata.

Primary versus secondary endpoints

The original Wales trial had a null primary diagnosed-eczema comparison, with favorable secondary sensitization and atopic-eczema results. The body also shows enrollment of both familial-risk levels. The later five-year follow-up is the same parent trial, not independent replication. Original PMID24947281. Access: full_text_partial.

Missing completed clinical bacterial-lysate trial

Consensus omitted ORBEX and portrayed bacterial-lysate evidence as largely biomarker-based. The original 822-participant report tested a clinical primary endpoint during subsequent off-treatment observation and found no significant benefit: hazard ratio1.16, confidence interval0.82–1.64. It is a completed clinical null, not an unreported biomarker-only study. Original PMID42705251. Access: abstract_metadata.

Daycare biodiversity is an intermediate-outcome intervention

The original small randomized soil-enrichment study reports microbiome and immune-marker changes over14days. It does not demonstrate prevention of diagnosed allergy or autoimmunity. Consensus helped locate this original source, but the marker-to-disease boundary remains. Original PMID35930838. Access: abstract_metadata.

Microbial quality and experimental system

The original report pairs observational infant cohorts with injected LPS experiments in NOD mice. E. coli and B. dorei signals differ. It supports exposure-specific biology rather than a general rule that more microbes protect humans; the linked correction is retained, with its detailed changes unexamined. Original PMID27133167. Access: full_text_partial.

Methods

Consensus was used to identify literature and cross-check specific claims about design, endpoints, scope and research gaps. Those aspects were checked against original primary abstracts/status records and selected original Methods/Results passages. Consensus output was not treated as original full text. Provider search omissions are not evidence that a study does not exist. Source access and examination receipts are retained. Scite use or monthly unavailability is recorded per case; provider citation counts do not change causal grades.
