# Video research-update insert: The Information Theory of Aging

Editorial script and storyboard insert, 5 October 2026. No rendered video. Read alongside the original review; no new grade is announced.

## Narration

Partial reprogramming can change molecular age measures and selected functional outcomes in models. Whether these effects establish epigenetic information loss as the necessary cause of normal aging is distinct from showing rejuvenation-associated changes, and toxicity depends strongly on protocol and tissue.

In the 2014 study, reprogramming perturbation produced dysplastic tumours with altered epigenetic regulation. Epigenetic plasticity can cause harm; marker resetting is not intrinsically beneficial. [P24529372]

In the 2022 study, molecular age measures and selected fibroblast functions improved. Cultured cells are not whole-person healthspan. [P35390271]

In the 2026 study, higher-dose treatment caused lipid accumulation, stress and severe toxicity. Chemical-cocktail toxicity cannot be generalized to every genetic reprogramming protocol. [P41589348]

The next discriminating question is: Is epigenetic information loss necessary for normal aging? Repair stress, cell-state change or other damage may produce similar age markers. Selective epigenetic perturbations and rescue with measured genome damage and cell composition; test naturally aged animals independently of induced injury.

The timeline shows selected changes in evidence, not inevitable progress or proof of a single cause. The review’s archived grade remains unchanged; the depth of source reading is documented in the update.

## Editorial constraints

- Use the primary-source links shown above and keep the inference limit on screen with each milestone.
- Do not narrate an abstract check as complete-paper examination, a model result as human proof, or an unresolved inference as absence of all research.
- Preserve trial endpoint hierarchy, cohort reuse, correction notices and online/issue dates.
- Use original graphics made from this ledger. Publisher figure imagery has not been cleared or supplied for video reuse.
- Confirm any change in verdict through a separate documented HSEF review; this insert makes none.
