# Narration and storyboard draft: Super-enhancer Model of Cell Identity

Authored draft, approximately 60–90 seconds; no rendered video claimed.

Super-enhancer maps identify many important regulatory regions near genes that define cell identity. The harder question is whether they form a uniquely distinct functional class. Native genetic experiments reveal several kinds of organization: major activators, redundant components, stage-dependent hierarchies and genuine facilitator-dependent cooperation. At alpha-globin, later reconstruction uncovered interactions missed by earlier single deletions, so a claim that everything is simply additive is also too strong. Conventional enhancer regions can be highly required, while some called super-enhancers are dispensable. A retinal enhancer deletion truly removes bipolar cells and alters vision, but that local developmental result does not establish a class-wide advantage over equally strong conventional clusters. Our Beta rating applies to the distinct-class conjunction. The next test needs matched regulatory regions, complete native reconstruction and direct lineage outcomes, with a defined mathematical model of additivity that accounts for saturation, promoter compatibility and developmental timing.
