# Adversarial review — two-hit-vascular-dementia (ROUND 2)

Authoring model: **Sol 6.1**. Adversarial reviewer: **Claude Opus 5.5 (Anthropic)**. Date: **2026-10-14**.
Canonical file reviewed: `consensus_consistency_audit_2026-10-09/revised/two-hit-vascular-dementia/two-hit-vascular-dementia.review.md`
(the revised edition; reviewed as it now stands).

## Summary

| Item | Result |
|---|---|
| Level before → after | Γ → Γ (no change); SC2 remains Ζ, reported at its own scope |
| Confidence before → after | Moderate → Moderate (no change) |
| Causal role | reinforcing / stabilizing factor (unchanged) |
| Findings | Critical 0 · Major 1 · Minor 1 · Editorial 0 |
| REFERENCE PMIDs verified | 69/69 resolve; 0 failures; 0 retraction/EoC flags among the 69 |
| Retracted exclusions re-checked | PMID 24336108 and PMID 29400711 confirmed Retracted Publication; correctly excluded from corpus and references |
| Load-bearing claims spot-checked | 12 |
| Collective-author builder bug | **present at reference #31 — fixed** |
| Validator | package-stored report (v2.3) ok=True; re-run with the bundled v5.4 copy gives 1 FAIL / 1 WARN, both version artifacts (see rejected findings) — `validator.txt` |
| Regression vs 2026-10-07 edition | none; the revision only adds the provenance reconciliation block |

## Findings

| ID | Severity | Location | Original → corrected |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Major | REFERENCES #31 (PMID 30688979) | ", Williamson JD, Pajewski NM et al." → "SPRINT MIND Investigators for the SPRINT Research Group, Williamson JD, Pajewski NM et al." |
| 2 | Minor | REFERENCES #45 (PMID 9052711) | "DOI: . Access: abstract_metadata." → "Access: abstract_metadata." |

Finding 1 is the known reference-builder defect (consortium first author dropped, stray leading comma).
Finding 2 is the known empty-DOI rendering defect; PubMed holds no DOI for this 1997 JAMA record, so the
field was removed rather than filled with an unverified string.

## Rejected findings (checked, no change)

1. Scope-matched aggregation is applied correctly: SC2 (Ζ) is a different scope from the central
AD-initiation claim, the scope-matched subclaims are SC3 and SC4 (both Γ), and the derivation wording
   says so. Alternatives (weakest-link Β, primary-subclaim Γ) are correct.
2. `v5.claim_form` "phenomenon" warning — the registered claim states initiation plus consequence; reject
   per convention.
3. `v5.lay_summary` FAIL from the v5.4 validator copies — a v5.4-only requirement on a v5.3 review.
4. Momentum "Mechanistic only" carries its artifact and correctly declines "Decisive work underway".
5. Reference titles at #11 and #56 differ from PubMed only by PubMed dropping italicised gene names
   (APOE4, NOTCH3) — reject per convention.
6. Handling of the two retracted pericyte landmarks is correct.

## Copies

- `propagate_to`: none.
- **Divergent copy left untouched:** `hsef_v53_popularity_ranks_26_30_2026-10-07/two-hit-vascular-dementia/two-hit-vascular-dementia.review.md`
(the pre-audit edition; it carries the same two reference defects and would need the same two string
replacements if the lead wants it corrected).

## Approval

**Approval:** Following adversarial review and the corrections listed above, the revised document is approved. — Claude Opus 5.5 (Anthropic), 2026-10-14.
