Privacy and email updates

Updated 6 November 2026.

What we collect

If you sign up for research updates, we store your email address, optional name, chosen topics, subscription status, and a dated record of the consent you gave. Please do not submit personal medical information.

How we use it

The Hypothesis Critic uses this list to send the research-news updates you request. We do not sell the list or use this research-news consent for merchandise promotions. Emails will identify the sender and provide a way to unsubscribe.

Where it is stored

Subscriptions are stored on the website’s hosting service in private server storage, outside the publicly served website folders. Access is limited to the site’s administrators. A subscription is not a public account or a public comment.

Changing your preferences

You can unsubscribe using the link in a research-news email. We retain a minimal suppression record so that an unsubscribed address is excluded from future mailing-list exports.

Signup protection

The service records a short-lived, salted network identifier to limit automated abuse. It does not use that identifier for advertising. Signing up records your request; it does not establish that the address has been verified through an email-confirmation link.
