Where does the evidence stand?
Open any title to read its plain-language review. The ladder groups 103 published topics by the causal-evidence level reached by each stated claim. The archive retains 107 review editions.
How to read the ladder. Each column is a level of causal evidence, from speculation on the left to demonstrated necessity and sufficiency on the right. Each topic retains its published HSEF grade. A low grade describes the causal work established for the stated claim; it does not mean that the underlying observation is imaginary.
Two independent questions. The HSEF level describes the causal evidence reached by the stated claim. Explanatory fit asks whether that claim leads, shares the lead, or is outranked by an alternative among the models compared in its review. A leading explanation can still have limited causal evidence; an incomplete comparison leaves relative fit unresolved. Models can overlap or include the tested mechanism; an alternative ahead does not make that mechanism irrelevant. Each review compares a different model set. Rank groups organize the reviews; they do not rank scientific strength across topics.
